Flea and Tick 

We recommend Nexgard and Frontline Gold for prevention. We recommend using flea and tick preventatives monthly all year around. We live in a very heavy tick population and they live in almost any temp and weather. They stay out as late as December and this year we found our first fully engorged deer tick in March. Your pet can get fleas all year around. They don't even have to go outside to get them. You can bring home these "friends" on your clothes.  

Happy Pet, Happy Heart

We  recommend administering Heartworm prevention montly all year around. It is true your pet can only get heartworms from mosquitoes. Most people don't realize is these preventatives also have a intestinal dewormer as well. Your pet can get intestinal parasites all year around . Transmission can occurs when they  step in another animals stool and lick their feet (or eat it).
​Some of these parasites can be transmitted to humans. This is especially important when small children are around (they don't always wash their hands well). 

Preventive Care

Preventive care is the best way to detect and prevent health issues. Most of the time early detection lessens and shortens the issue and expense. We perform wellness exams at your annual vaccination visit and with all puppy vaccinations. Puppies grow very rapidly early in life and changes in health can occur during this rapid growth period. We also recommend a blood test to check for tick diseases and heart-worm yearly. Wellness exams combined with vaccines are the best way to prevent and detect diseases early.
